Benriach Smoky Quarter Cask, 1L

A principios de la década de 1970, Benriach rompió con la convención en Speyside al volver a destilar lotes de whisky al estilo antiguo del siglo XIX, utilizando cebada malteada ahumada con turba de las Tierras Altas. Esta turba rica en madera de las Tierras Altas aporta notas distintivamente dulces y ahumadas a los whiskies ahumados de Benriach. Benriach Smoky Quarter Cask ha sido elaborado a partir de una combinación de espíritu sin ahumar y ahumado; primero madurado en barricas de bourbon, y luego sometido a una segunda maduración en barricas especiales de cuarto. At BenRiach, we use barley malted with inland peat. It is taken from the top soil surface and is less heavy and oily than the peat from Islay, which is saturated by the sea. As a result, our spirit takes on smoky characteristics without the iodine notes that are found in Islay malts.
