At first this doesn't seem surprising, after all, the Palatinate native grew up in Ellerstadt, a small community , where vineyard after vineyard and winery after winery. And yet Markus Schneider has built something very special here: a winery that he founded in 1994 with just one hectare of land and has since expanded into an international brand 92 hectares of vineyards - his wines are part of the portfolio of top international restaurants and hotels, the best airlines and cruise fleets in the world.

Thanks to the combination of well-matured fruits and a variety of different vineyard sites, this wine brings forth black fruits with a powerful intensity. The greatest challenge has been to optimise the harvest time of all of the individual varieties. From a simple idea a great success story has been developed – all totally unplanned. Varieties: St. Laurent, Merlot, Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Mitos, Cabernet Dorsa.

Tohuwabohu describes a boundless state of disorder requiring taming at the hands of the divine. So the Tohuwabohu vintage is a perfect homage to our son Nicolaus, who not only turns everything upside down, but then manages to sorts everything out afterwards, according to his own particular order. Made almost entirely from Cabernet Sauvignon, with a small touch of Merlot, it is grown just a stone’s throw from our Estate on barren, gravel-sandy soils. Plenty of 'Tohuwabohu', but don't expect easy drinking!
