Introducing a new style of whisky for a new kind of whisky drinker. Inspired by our own Malt men who still turn the malting barley by hand, Monkey Shoulder is blended from three of Speyside’s finest single malts resting in first fill bourbon casks. Each batch is made by using just 27 casks carefully selected by our Malt Master, Brian Kinsman. Unlike traditional blends, Monkey Shoulder is made from 100% malt whisky (not a drop of grain whisky in there) resulting in an exceptional creation.

Monkey Shoulder is the world’s first triple malt whisky. Unlike other scotches, Monkey Shoulder uses only malt and no grain whisky in its blend, resulting in an exceptionally smooth liquid. All three malt whiskies used in Monkey Shoulder been matured exclusively in Bourbon casks. Each batch of Monkey Shoulder is then blended together in a small marrying tun for between three to six months to make it even smoother and more mellow. Monkey Shoulder is highly versatile and can be enjoyed neat, on the rocks or mixed into your favourite whisky-based cocktail. Rooted in malt whisky lore, Monkey Shoulder is inspired by and affectionately named in honour of a temporary injury the malt men occasionally suffered many years ago as a result of repeatedly turning the malt by hand. The repetitive practice caused their arm to hang down, resembling a monkey – thus the nickname. Thankfully, working practices have now changed and the condition no longer exists but we are proud to honour our heritage.
